New off the Rack – Level 33 Microbrewery’s Desserts, and Marrying Chocolate with Beer?

Popular for its signature craft beers and breathtaking view of the Marina Bay district, Level 33 is unveiling a new menu in mid-March 2012 with a refreshing spin on its desserts that one should definitely look out for. The Chocolate Space takes a sneak peak at a Level 33’s decadent chocolate Torte.

Presented in a little blini pan upon a wooden cheeseboard, this warm 70% dark chocolate Torte is tucked with a plump sweetness of raisins and hazelnuts. The crème fraiche on the top, is mixed with hints of mandarin puree and candied orange, giving this richly moist Torte a well-balanced citrus touch. And of course, I was told to “dig in with generosity”. While most chocolate tortes are often deep, dark and seductive, the pop of colour from the berries, dragon fruit and petals that was served on the side, put a little twist to this dessert, making it a great choice from the new menu.

But hang on, we’re not done yet. While not too common, pairing beer with chocolate desserts has indeed been gaining traction in some food circles. And a great place to try this out is at Level 33. Order a pint of Level 33’s signature craft 33.3 Stout, a full-bodied Irish Stout with a dark, roasty flavour that will compliment your dark chocolate Torte well.
